Summer Season-It lasts from April to June. The temperature ranges between 5 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius during this season. You have to carry your woolen clothes during this season. By Air-The nearest airport in Bagdogra in West Bengal is about 124 kilometers from Gangtok. You can take a bus or cab from the airport which will take about 5 hours from Bagdogra. You can also opt fora helicopter service from Bagdogra to Gangtokwhich takes about 30 minutes. Book these services in advance.

By Train-Sikkim does not have its own station so you have to travel to the nearest Jalpaiguri and Siliguri rail stations. From the rail stations, you can hire cabs or taxisto Sikkim. It can be a great way to travel for anyone.

By Road- You can hire a taxi or cab from the nearest Siliguri and Darjeeling states to travel. This can be a beautiful way to travel. From the scenic route, the Teesta river flows, and lush green mountains- you will explore many things.

Nathula Pass


It is a high-altitude mountain pass, situated at an altitude of 14,450 feet and 56 km from Gangtok. It is one of the three open trading borders between India and China. This is an adventurous pass that is accessible from Gangtok throughout the year. The KailashMansarovar route from Nathula Pass takes tourists and pilgrims to China-occupied Tibet.You will explore various attractive beauties and stunning environments. Permits for Nathula Pass in Gangtok are available only for domestic tourists 4 days a week (Wed-Thursday and Sat-Sunday). The Tourism and Civil Aviation Department of Sikkim issues special permits. The number of vehicles is also restricted. There are various popular tourist attractions you will discover such as Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, Mera Bharat Mahan Hill, Tsomgo Lake, Mandakini Waterfalls, and Indo-China Border. You can visit the border trade market at Sherathang. Close to Sherathang, Kupup is another beauty that is mostly covered by clouds. It has the world’s second-largest Golf course. Nathula Pass passes through Tsomgo Lake which is a famous tourist destination and does not have human inhabitation. Here you will watch birds like black eagles, blue whistling thrush, redstarts, folk, tit-blabber, etc. Apart from that, you can see Tibetan gazelle, snow leopards, yaks, Tibetan wolves, etc. Several gush waterfalls are there along the way from Gangtok to Nathula.

Yumthang Valley


The Yumthang Valley is undoubtedly one of the best destinations when it comes to lifetime enchantment.It is a nature sanctuary with rivers, yaks, and hot springs. It is at an elevation of around 3500 meters above sea level and you will see various sorts of Himalayan Flowers. Rest assured that you will receive a magical experience. Situated to the Ranka Monastery, The Banjhakri waterfalls are undoubtedly one of nature's many lovely wonders.It is a hundred foot waterfall. It is about seven kilometers away from Gangtok. However, it is a naturally created waterfall which creates from the springs located at a higher altitude.Ban means "forest" while Jhakri means "priest". It is one of the major tourist attractions of Sikkim andthe energy park has many key attentionsas well as one of which is the man-made lake with a dragon. Gurudongmar Lake


Situated at a height of 17100 feet above sea level, Gurudongmar Lake is the second-highest lake in India. Located just about 5 km south of the Indo-China border and about 190 kilometers from the capital city of Gangtok, it has a huge shore length of about 5.34 kilometers and a surface area of about 118 hectares. This lake is known as a holy lake by Sikhs, Hindus, and Buddhists and is believed to have some divine power. You will see anattractive view of Mount Siniolchu and Khanchendzonga.It acts as a source of the river Teesta. This lake is situated en route to Lachen, a small town in North Sikkim.A night stay at Lachen is recommended before heading for the lake. There are several major attractions including hangu Valley, the Lachen Monastery, the Chopta Valley, and the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary. Lachen Monastery is well-known for its Tibet architecture and is a tranquil and peaceful place. Chopta Valley is one of the most famed trekking destinations and it is famous for its beautiful and spectacular views. Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary houses anextensive variety of Rhododendron species and is enclosed by the Himalayan Ranges. Hanuman Tok


Situated in Gangtok, Hanuman Tok is the most famous temple in Sikkim,managed and maintained by a division of the army department of India. The literal meaning of Tok is ‘temple’. Hanuman Tok (mandir) is devoted to Lord Hanuman. It is known as a wish fulfilling temple. This temple is covered with a garden full of flowers. You will see a small museum that provides some information on the construction of the temple. It is now handled and preserved by the Units of the 17 Mountain Division of the Army. It is situated on a supremely calm and quiet hilltop. There is also a small temple of Saibaba near where you can also have numerousstupas and chortens.There are the royal cremation grounds called Lukshyama, where the mortal remains of the members of the former Namgyal dynasty were confined to the flames. Mainly, this temple is popular for its tranquil ambience and viewing area. You will see the best view of Kanchenjunga range from the Hanuman Tok. Rumtek Monastery


Rumtek Monastery incorporates a beautiful shrine temple and a monastery for monks. It exemplifies the vision and aspiration of the Sixteenth Karmapa (head of the monastery), RangjungRigpeDorje, to create his seat-in-exile to help spread the teachings of Buddha throughout the world. Situated at an altitude of around 1500 meters, the Rumtek Monastery offers a clear view of the valley around and Gangtok. Rumtek Monastery is situated in the Indian state of Sikkim. You will feel tranquil and one with the almighty. This place attracts tourists from all across the world. Undoubtedly, it offers a quiet picturesque view. Since the Rumtek Monastery location is quite near Gangtok, you can spot a bird’s eye view of the city from up here. The architecture of the Rumtek Monastery resembles the original one in Tsurphu, Tibet. The main building is a three-storey building and it has some infrequent Buddhist religious artwork in the world in the form of wall murals, Thangkas (scrolls with intricate hand paintings), 1001 miniature golden models of Buddha, etc. The place is also a popular center for Kagyu teachings.
