By Air -The Cochin International Airport and the Madurai International Airport are the nearby ones that you can consider. Then you can take a taxi at a fair cost from the airports to reach your place.
By Train -Aluva is the nearest station to travel, 110 kilometers from this city. You can also travel to Ernakulam. You can get down at either Ernakulam Town (North) or Ernakulam Junction (South). Another station is Madurai which is about 135 kilometers away. All these stations are operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Then you can take a taxi to Munnar.
By Road -Munnar has a great road network and you can easily travel from this hill town to other parts of the state. You can find regular buses from the bus station or hire a car to explore the beautiful views.

Eravikulam National Park
Located in Munnar and stretching over around 97 square kilometers, the Eravikulam National Park is one of the most visited tourist spots. There are all sorts of flora and fauna, especially the rare and endangered Nilgiri Tahr. You can see Neelakurinji flowers (bloom once in 12 years) which are a rare one. You just take a trek through the Rajamalai Eravikulam National Park in Munnar to reach endangered Nilgiri Tahr. You can witness the magnificent views of the rolling hills and the Shola grasslands. Take a jeep safari to spot these beauties of nature. Go on a trip to visit Anamudi Peak, the Atukkad Waterfalls, the Echo Point, the Lakkom Waterfalls, and the Forest Rose Garden.
Mattupetty Dam
Mattupetty Dam is completely covered by the lush hills of Mattupetty, charming valleys, rolling grasslands, mist-laden hills and flowing streams lie about 13 kilometers from Munnar. You can take a boat ride to reach the dam and enjoy the delight of water sports. Trekking in the Shola forest nearby will lead to many plants and animals to see. Visit the cattle farm and witness varieties of high-yielding cattle grazing in the Mattupetty village. Also, enjoy the gleaming Kundala Lake and the majestic Kundala tea plantations.
Anamudi Peak
Explore the grand Anamudi Peak in Munnar which is surrounded by Misty hills, lush valleys, and picturesque routes. It is the highest peak in South India as well as the tallest in the Western Ghats. It is located at a height of 2,695 meters. You will also witness different types of flora and fauna all around. Trekkers need to ascend 600 meters from the start of the trek to the mountaintop. It is called the “Elephant’s Forehead”. Tourists can see the Asian Elephants, Nilgiri Tahrs, and Gaurs and the new species of frog Raorchestes Resplendens. The rare Neelakurinji flowers will be seen that turn the entire hillside blue. Take the Kurinji Trail to spot the beautiful Kurinji plants and the Cascade Walk to discover the scenic wonder of the glistening Lakkom Waterfalls.
Top Station
You should visit the Top Station once to explore the majestic view of the remarkable Western Ghats. Top Station is situated about 32 kilometres from Munnar in the Idukki district. This is a perfect place for planning a weekend or a romantic getaway in Kerala and witnessing the lofty mountains and swirls of pale mists. Enjoy the low-flying clouds, bright green rolling hills, and a velvety carpet of tea to make your tour unforgettable. You will be offered a chance for photography, camping, and trekking in Munnar.
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
This is a great chance for nature lovers to explore the scenic view of the Chinnar wildlife sanctuary. Don’t miss it!! You will see high sholas, dry deciduous forests, and some grassland as well as the crowd of animals like spotted deer, elephants, hanuman langur, peacocks, sambar and much more. Also, there is a wide range of plant species that are of ecological, floral, cultural and geomorphologic significance. For adventure lovers, enjoy trekking to the cultural site, river trekking, a trek to the Thoovanam falls, a nature trail to the watchtower, a medicinal garden, a tree house at Chinnar and camping at Vasyappara.
