Jew Town

Situated between Mattancherry Palace and the Pardesi Synagogue, Jew Town is the port city. As per history, the king of Kochi gave shelter to the Jews from Kodungallore in the year 1524. He allotted them to land in Mattancherry which was next to his palace and it became the Jew Town. This town offers a great opportunity for shopping where you can buy jewellery, crockery, curios, wooden and metal figurines, statuettes, carved wooden furniture and handicraft items like wooden elephants, wall hangings, paintings, etc. There are sculptures, embroidered garments, floral oils, chandeliers, etc., in other shops along the street. You can witness the colonial buildings and a big bronze vessel (Vaarpu).

Kerala Folklore Theatre and Museum

It is located in the city of Thevara in Kochi. Once you enter this museum, you will be welcomed by elephant statues on both sides of the steps and a big Kalvilakku (stone lamp). You will witness a great collection of woodwork and Kerala ancient carpentry. The entire museum is built in the Malabar, Cochin and Travancore style of architecture that will mesmerize you. Thattekad Bird Sanctuary

Located in the Kothamangalam Taluk of Ernakulam district on the northern bank of the Periyar River, Thattekad Bird Sanctuary is covered over 25 km sq. This amazing place was discovered by Dr. Salim Ali in 1930 and became the richest bird habitat in peninsular India. You will see a range of tropical deciduous and evergreen trees that is home to birds. If you are a bird lover, then this is the best place to visit. The birds include Indian Pitta, Orange-Headed Thrush, Large-Billed Leaf-Warbler, Jerdon's Nightjar, Indian Cuckoo, Oriental Darter, Cormorants, Whiskered Terns, Collared Scops Owl, Ceylon Frogmouth, Pompadour Green Pigeon and Yellow-Browed Bulbuls.

Cherai Beach

The Stunning and charming Cherai Beach is situated on the north end of Vypeen Island in Kochi. This is highly recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches, just 30 km from the city of Cochin. You can feel the perfect combination of the sea and the backwaters. When the green groves and paddy fields make this beach more stunning, Chinese fishing nets on the waterfront give you another charm that you should see. You can witness different sorts of resident and migratory birds. For bird lovers, it is the best option. In addition, there are around six species of mammals like a painted bat, Indian flying-fox house rat/black rat, three-striped palm squirrel/dusky palm squirrel, Bandicota, and Eurasian otter as well as a species of amphibians like Limnonectes limnocharis and Duttaphrynus melanostictus.
