How to reach Kalpa

Isolated in the Himalayan mountains at a high altitude, the only way to reach Kalpa is via roads, making it a popular road trip destination in India.
 

By air: The nearest airport to Shimla airport, which is well connected to other cities including Delhi and Mumbai. From the airport, you can either take a bus to Kalpa or get a taxi to reach here. The airport is roughly 275 km from Kalpa. The nearest international airport to Kalpa is in Chandigarh, which is roughly 330 km away. From Chandigarh, you can either take a cab to Kalpa or get a bus for Reckong Peo, which is 7km from Kalpa. 

By train: The nearest train station to Kalpa is in Shimla, which is close to 270 km away. You can take a bus from Shimla to reach Kalpa or board a government-run bus to Reckong Peo and Kalpa. Shimla being a narrow-gauge line, Kalka is the nearest major railway station, situated at a distance of 300 km. 

By road: This is the best way to reach Kalpa, as it is fairly accessible via a connection of state and national highways. It is well connected from Delhi and Chandigarh and if you plan to travel by bus, you will find a lot of options available with the Himachal State-run buses. You would have to board a bus for Reckong Peo.
